DescriptionThe John Howard Society initiates programs which encourage positive behavior, and reintegration of prisoners back into society. It also implements a range of public education programs to encourage involvement in and responsibility for the Justice System and works to provide direct, effective, cost-efficient service to prisoners, parolees, probationers and their families  
The society also provides support and encouragement through programs providing relief for victims of crime  
Sup. DescriptionThe various programs/services offered in Prince George: 
 
Choices - screened volunteers with experience in the jail system speak to youth 
 
Drop-in Services - Information, referrals, photo identification,resume organization/typing, and informal counselling is available to ex-offenders and parolees. Limited financial assistance can be arranged 
 
Employment Counselling - for soon to be released provincial jail inmates. Parolees, probationers and ex-offenders are also eligible for this program 
 
Family Violence Prevention Program - Prinœ George Stop Taking It Out on Your Partner is a voluntary program for abusive husbands (two, sixteen-week program cycles per year) 
 
Job Coach - Pilot program designed to assist clients overcome exceptional barriers to employment 
 
Labour Market Partnership - involves putting a communication strategy together in regards to getting criminal justice clients into the labour force 
 
Prison Visiting - Staff regularly visit adult provincial jails offering advocacy and assistance with letters & paperwork, informal counselling & contact with families
