| Description | Mission Statement: To build a strong community rooted in the philosophy and cultures of our peoples. Programs & Services: - Dry Foods Program; Provides foods to 31 schools in School District 71 for children who arrive at school with empty bellies and no lunch. It provides food to approximately 500 students. This program is run by volunteers. - Elder Support; Provides support to elders in the community - travel to and from appointm,ents, for groceries, to community dinners and luncheons, to cultural events. - Pre- employment training: - Helping Hands; to meet the emergent needs of community members, this program provides one time emergency support. This program has provided such things as prescription medication, medical supplies, baby car seats, food & hydro. - Out of the Shadows Youth Legacy FAS/FAE Awareness Program; FAS/FAE (Fetal Alchohol Syndrome/ Fetal Alcohol Effects) education, awareness and prevention services for three youth friendly, safe environment. Program offers Youth Outreach worker & FASD Keyworker. - Raven Back Youth ; This program is designed by youth to meet the needs of youth in the Comox Valley. Provides a safe, youth friendly, culturally sensitive environment for youth to participate in activities and workshops, benefit from peer support and recieve mentoring from elders and community members. - Homelessness programs: Prevention/ intervention as well as outreach. | |||
