| Description | Mission Statement: We seek to respond holistically to hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity in the Comox Valley, focusing on using local resources to meet local food system needs. We implement and support in partnership with the community practical, food related projects as a way to educate, encourage, and empower the people of the Comox Valley towards personal wellness, community health, and environmental stewardship. We believe that public health, social justice, and ecological sustainability are inextricably linked. Our goals are to work, on food-related projects: experiential education for ecological literacy and healthy food training for community and individual self-reliance; support local agriculture economic opportunities; innovative [profit and non-profit] distribution and marketing of locally grown food. Our commitment to the community: 1 To be totally accountable to the community 2 To value our volunteers - they are our strength and greatest resource; and, 3 To ensure that all users of the systems we support have access that is equitable, and individuals are treated with compassion and respect. Introduction Programs & Services:: LUSH Valley Food Action Society is a non-profit charitable community food security partner whose knowledge and experience strives to reflect the cultural, political and economic diversity and the potential of the Comox Valley food system.
