| Description | Provides information, help, referral and advocacy support to Aboriginal people in the West Kootenay/Boundary region with regard to employment and training, the law, health care, poverty, education and other matters affecting Aboriginal people. Representatives sit on a variety of Advisory Committees and Boards including: * The Aboriginal Health and Wellness Advisory Committee of the Interior Health Authority; * Founding member and Planning committee member for the West Kootenay of the Aboriginal Peoples Family Accord; * Member, Aboriginal Council on Education for School District No. 20; * Board representative for the Kootenays on the Options for Sexual Health Board; One of 3 Aboriginal moderators for Legal Services Society of BC; * Member of the Equity Working Group for Columbia Hydro contractors; * Member of Advisory Committee for Aboriginal Advisor at Selkirk College; Actively organizes, plans and hosts Aboriginal Day celebrations. | |||
