DescriptionThe central philosophy of Home Health Care is the belief that most people wish to maintain and remain in their own homes for as long as possible. A wide range of community-based, residential, and supportive health care services are available for persons with health related problems. 
 
 
 
Home Health Care Services include: 
 
Community Home Care Nursing – provides nursing care to clients in their own homes during acute, chronic, or palliative episodes. 
 
Community Rehabilitation – provides assessment and treatment to home bound clients and includes assessment of the home environment. 
 
Home Support - assistance with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming) and household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation. There may be a charge for these services, depending upon income (not assets). There is no charge for clients in receipt of a government income benefit.  
 
Adult Day Centres – provide an organized program of health, social and recreational activities in a group setting. 
 
Residential Care Services- provides care and supervision in a protective, supportive environment for people who can no longer be looked after in their homes. There is an income-tested user fees. Optional Services requested by a resident may be subject to additional charges, which are determined by the facility.  
 
Respite – provides temporary relief for caregivers (i.e. family member or friend), either through home support, adult day centres, or by admitting the client to residential care for a short period. 
 
Assessment and Treatment Centres – provide short term, specialized diagnostic and treatment services.
