DescriptionMission Statement:  
The John Howard Society of North Island is a charitable organization whose mission is to help and foster safer and healthier communities by providing appropreiate programs of rehabilitation, education, prevention and healing for those who need a opportunity to maintain or regain a balance within their communities.  
 
Programs & Services: 
- Alcohol and Drug School Based Prevention Program; 
Provides VAnier Secondary School with education and intervention strategies related to alcohol and other drugs 
 
-Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services for Youth; 
Assists youth and their families in assessing, planning and following through with actions to address substance abuse issues. Detox and supportive recovery is also available as a means to address the addiction  
 
- Youth and Family Support Workers; 
Through a school based team model, support is provided for youth, and families of students who are experiencing social, emotional or behavioural problems and are at risk of dropping out of school 
 
Youth Outreach Program; 
Provides brief services that include after-hours outreach to assist youth in connecting with community resources, and raises awareness of high-risk behaviours such as alcohol and drug use, sexual exploitation and family breakdown
