Description About The Vancouver Island Crisis Society: 
 
The Vancouver Island Crisis Society is an accredited crisis centre with the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) that is committed to providing an accessible, 24-hour crisis line at 1-888-494-3888, along with on-line emotional support through our Crisis Chat at www.vicrisis.ca, and on your mobile device through Crisis Text @ 250-800-3806, both offered from 6-10 pm 7 days week.  
 
The Vancouver Island Crisis Line is the public access for Mental Health Crisis Response Services Island wide.  
 
We endeavor to provide emotional support during times of crisis with public access to an online community resource database, and education intended to promote community wellness and to reduce the incidence of suicide.  
 
We value the principals of confidentiality, non-judgmental acceptance, and respect for diversity, personal empowerment and cooperation. 
 
We provide 24 hour non-judgemental short term emotional support, crisis and suicide intervention services and community resource information.  
 
Calls are kept confidential and anonymous.  
 
Our website, www.vicrisis.ca, provides information about suicide, including facts, links, what you can do to help. 
 
Community Education Workshops: Information on workshops available by our Training Team. We also custom design workshops for your agency  
 
ASIST11-Living Works Applied Suicide Intervention Skills: Find out more about the most widely recognized Suicide Training Program in the world provided locally.  
 
Community Resources: The Crisis Society provides an on-line searchable database that includes social services listed throughout Vancouver Island. An icon and hyper link information can be provided to an agency to put on their website to use as a direct link to this database to utilize for their clients. 
 
Newsletter: A bi-annual e-newsletter is sent out to service providers island wide that includes updated information on the most recent research and programs offered around mental health and suicide prevention along with updates about crisis services. 
 
 
Volunteer Opportunities: Information on how you can become a Volunteer Crisis Line Worker, including a printable application form
